Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos consider their Live co-stars family, and they stay in touch with them long after they leave the show. Kelly in particular, who has co-hosted the ABC show since February 2001, was visibly emotional when veteran news executive Art Moore retired in 2024 after 53 years with ABC and 36 years with Live. So she was delighted to reunite with him this week.
The star shared a joyful update on Art’s post-Live life, and by the sound of it he is doing very well. On Live’s July 15 show, Kelly told viewers that the pair had seen their beloved Art Moore the night before for dinner, describing him as phenomenal and joking that he makes a strong argument for retirement.
She added that Art looked 20 years younger and was so funny. He now wakes up early, she said, prompting Mark to note that Art, a night owl, gets up at 6, before turning to the camera to call out a cheerful hello to him. A picture from the dinner then appeared on screen, and Kelly laughed that they had all turned up in blazers, each having dressed smartly so they could be elegant for the occasion.
She went on to say how much fun they had, adding that the team still misses Art every day and that it was great to see him.
Art left the show on Friday 20, 2024. At the time, Kelly addressed the audience, calling it a day for celebration and joy, yet personally for those on the studio floor a devastating one, as they marked Art Moore’s retirement.
The show aired a special episode dedicated to Art, featuring montages of his funniest moments alongside a heartfelt speech from Kelly at the very end. She raised a glass of sparkling cider to her colleague and said she did not know where to begin, but insisted this was not a goodbye, and that they would never say goodbye to him.
She told him he had been the single most important person to everyone there, as shown by how many of the people he worked with each day love, honour and cherish him and everything he has given them. Calling him a giver, she said they honoured him and showered him with their gratitude and love, eternally.
