Mourners gathered near Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate on Sunday to remember the victim of Saturday’s deadly attack close to the city’s Pride festival, laying flowers, candles, rainbow flags and handwritten messages at a growing memorial.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz was among those who attended, placing flowers in tribute at the site.
Nearby, the scene of celebration was already being taken apart. Crews dismantled the festival stages and cleared away rubbish after the event was cut short by the violence.
The attack left one woman dead and 29 others injured. Prosecutors said the suspect, who was shot dead by police, had expressed support for the so-called Islamic State group.
