Distinguished Career In Military Service And Technical Writing
Mr. Morrissey began his professional journey with service in the United States Navy from 1975 to 1980, serving as a seaman boatswain’s mate and commissioning crew member (plank owner) aboard the USS Tarawa (LHA-1). His military experience instilled discipline, accountability, flexibility and teamwork that would define his career for decades to come.
Following his honorable military service, Mr. Morrissey transitioned into the private sector, where he built a highly respected career in technical writing, project management and corporate leadership. He held senior roles with leading organizations, including Microsoft, where he contributed to the launch of Windows 2000 and played a key role in pioneering one of the industry’s first HTML-based online help systems.
He continued to excel at Computer Associates and Peregrine Systems. At Infrastructure Development Corp, he was knowledge manager for the Navy/Marine Corps Intranet implementation. Following that project, he continued in the military technical documentation space at InnovaSystems International, consistently delivering high-impact documentation and technical publications leadership.
Later, at Western Digital, Mr. Morrissey returned to the private sector, serving as a senior technical writer and veterans program leader. Here, he founded the WeSalute initiative—a program dedicated to creating career opportunities for veterans and their families. Under his leadership, Western Digital earned top recognition from the United States Department of Defense for its veteran support efforts.
“My time in the military taught me when to listen and how to work as part of a team,” Mr. Morrissey said. “Those lessons have guided every professional decision I’ve made in my career.”
Champion For Veterans And Workforce Development
In 2024, Mr. Morrissey founded MorrisseyUSA LLC, leveraging more than 30 years of combined military and corporate experience to support veterans through access to critical community resources, including financial guidance, housing assistance and employment opportunities. Through its subsidiary, Write The First Time, the organization connects skilled technical writers with roles in the military-industrial sector. By applying a rigorous vetting and precision-matching process, both employers and candidates benefit—ensuring organizations secure the right talent while professionals are placed in positions aligned with their skills and experience.
Beyond his professional work, Mr. Morrissey is deeply committed to civic service and veteran advocacy. He served as public affairs director for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) in California, is past chapter president of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) and sits on the board of Patriots to Education, a nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans transition into careers in education.

Mr. Morrissey’s service and leadership have earned him numerous honors, including the ESGR James M. Roche Spirit of Volunteerism Award and multiple Department of Defense recognitions for excellence in public affairs and veteran advocacy.
