Marquis Who’s Who proudly announces Patrick Morrissey as the recipient of the prestigious Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring his exceptional contributions to technical writing, corporate leadership and veteran advocacy.
Distinguished Career in Military and Technical Writing
Mr. Morrissey began his journey in the United States Navy from 1975 to 1980 as a seaman boatswain’s mate aboard the USS Tarawa (LHA-1). His military service laid the groundwork for a career defined by discipline, teamwork and a commitment to service.
Mr. Morrissey transitioned to the private sector and held senior technical writing and management roles with leading organizations including Microsoft, where he contributed to the launch of Windows 2000 and helped pioneer the first HTML-based online help files.
Mr. Morrissey continued to excel in positions with Computer Associates, Peregrine Systems and InnovaSystems International and later as a senior technical writer and veterans program leader at Western Digital. There, he founded the WeSalute initiative, creating opportunities for veterans and their families and helping the company earn top recognition from the United States Department of Defense.
“My time in the military taught me when to listen and how to work as part of a team,” Mr. Morrissey said. “Those lessons have guided every professional decision I’ve made since.”
Championing Opportunities for Veterans
As chief executive officer of MorrisseyUSA LLC, established in 2024, Mr. Morrissey leverages more than 30 years of corporate and military expertise to connect technical writers with opportunities in the military-industrial sector. He is now preparing to launch Write The First Time, a subsidiary dedicated to helping individuals with strong English skills secure remote technical writing roles.
Beyond his professional achievements Mr. Morrissey is deeply involved in civic service. He serves as public affairs director for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve in Nevada, is chapter president of the Association of the United States Army and sits on the board of Patriots to Education, a nonprofit helping veterans transition into careers in education.
“I’m a man of my word. Right, wrong or indifferent, I do what I say I’m going to do,” Mr. Morrissey said, emphasizing the character and integrity that have defined his career.
Mr. Morrissey’s commitment has earned him multiple honors including the James M. Roche Spirit of Volunteerism Award and numerous Department of Defense recognitions for public affairs leadership.
“Connecting the right people to the best opportunities has been my mission,” Mr. Morrissey said. “It’s about giving back and ensuring veterans find meaningful work after service.”
