Anthony S. Marinello, president of Tropic Air Charters Inc. in Fort Lauderdale, recently received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who. This recognition highlights professionals who demonstrate more than a decade of meaningful contributions, problem-solving and leadership. Mr. Marinello started his career as one of the youngest state troopers in the New Jersey State Police and progressed through prominent roles in aviation and public service, showing resilience and dedication to progress.
Recognition In Aviation And Lifesaving Service
Mr. Marinello shifted from law enforcement to aviation, leading a team of pilots who provide rescue operations and passenger flights between Florida and the Bahamas. During 2024, Mr. Marinello led a helicopter mission that evacuated 10 Americans from an orphanage in Haiti, showing steady resolve under pressure.
He said, “Service to the community is what motivates me. I just try and do the best I can for everybody I can.”
Distinguished Leadership And Community Impact
Mr. Marinello supervised safety for HeliFlite, a premium aviation company based in New Jersey, and directed both strategy and daily operations as chief executive officer for SAS Group LLC, an investigations and security firm. Civic service has stood alongside Mr. Marinello’s aviation leadership. He has served as mayor and deputy mayor of Springfield Township in New Jersey and continues to volunteer with the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Marinello has a clear philosophy: “Every role has prepared me to act decisively when lives are on the line,” he said. “You learn that leadership is not just about authority. It’s about responsibility, strategy and compassion.”
Throughout 2024, Mr. Marinello received several honors, including the Knights of Columbus Award for Saving the Lives of the People in Haiti, New Jersey State Trooper of the Year, and the Sikorsky Rescue Award from Sikorsky Aircraft. Columbia Magazine also profiled his community safety work. Mr. Marinello reflected on his professional history and philosophy, saying, “Success comes from discipline and persistence. Even when the conditions are less than ideal, you have to keep moving forward and trust your training and your purpose.”
This recognition positions Mr. Marinello among people whose careers shape their field and inspire communities, both in the air and on the ground.
