Brendan V. Roney, managing partner of BR Marine Group, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, honorees are chosen on the basis of noteworthy accomplishments, visibility and prominence in their field.
Mr. Roney’s career has taken him from his early days as a deckhand and captain to leading one of Florida’s premier boutique yacht brokerage firms. Since founding BR Marine Group in 2022, he has specialized in ultra-luxury yacht sales, charters and management for ultra-high-net- worth clients. In recent years, the company has facilitated the sale of yachts ranging from 30 to 155 feet, always prioritizing long-term client relationships over single transactions.
Reflecting on his philosophy, Mr. Roney explained, “As a leader, you lead by example. I always try to put myself in other people’s shoes when I’m thinking about how to achieve goals without compromising the people around me.”
A Team Built On Experience At Sea
Mr. Roney credits his company’s success to the depth of maritime expertise within his team. BR Marine Group is composed largely of former yacht crew, including captains, mates, a chef, interior crew and engineers – professionals with more than 15 years of experience at sea. This hands-on knowledge enables the firm to anticipate the needs of both owners and crew while ensuring seamless transactions
Prior to BR Marine Group, Mr. Roney spent more than a decade as a captain, holding command of motor and sailing yachts up to 217 feet. His background gives him rare insight into the dynamics between yacht owners and their crews. “Often, I find myself acting as a consultant to both sides, helping resolve operational challenges or communication gaps. It’s something I do because I’ve been in their position and understand what’s at stake,” he said.
Earlier in his career, he worked with leading global brokerage firms, including the International Yacht Company (IYC) and Camper & Nicholsons International, where he sharpened his expertise in luxury yacht transactions and global client service.
Education, Personal Life And Community Commitment
Mr. Roney earned his bachelor’s degree in business with a minor in psychology from Duquesne University and studied abroad at Macquarie University in Australia. He also holds a Master 1600/3000 ITC Ocean License, a U.S. Coast Guard Master certification and credentials from Maritime Professional Training
Away from business, Mr. Roney is committed to the special needs community, actively supporting the Miracle League for Baseball and related causes. His dedication stems from his family life — his son has autism, and his daughter faces medical challenges. “Family comes first. Balancing the demands of yachting with being present for all three of my kids and my wife has been my greatest accomplishment,” he said.
Throughout his 27 years in the industry, Mr. Roney has demonstrated perseverance, adaptability and a hands-on approach to leadership. These qualities, combined with his deep knowledge of yachts and support for his team, continue to define his impact on the luxury brokerage field.
