Former Real Housewives of New York City star and luxury real estate agent Kelly Killoren Bensimon has offered fans an intimate look inside her stunning downtown Manhattan apartment a sunlit, loft-style home tucked within one of New York’s most storied addresses: The Police Building at 240 Centre Street.
The Beaux-Arts architectural landmark once served as the headquarters of the New York Police Department before being converted into high-end co-ops that have attracted some of the world’s most notable names. From Calvin Klein to Steffi Graf, Christy Turlington, and Linda Evangelista, the building has long been a magnet for the city’s elite.
“I just love living here. I love the vibe. I love the area … I mean, you’ve had everyone here,” Bensimon gushed in an exclusive Page Six tour. “All the supermodels, all the super elite, the best bankers, designers, artisans everyone has lived or come through this building. If these walls could talk you have no idea what it would tell you!”
Now 57, Kelly Killoren Bensimon has lived in various apartments within the iconic property over the years. As a Douglas Elliman Real Estate agent and the building’s broker specialist, she says her connection to The Police Building runs deep.
“240 Centre Street in New York City is a living landmark,” she said proudly. “I just feel so honored that I get to live and work in one of the coolest, coolest buildings.”
The building’s lobby still radiates the grandeur of its early 20th-century roots a visual feast of marble columns, hand-sculpted ceilings, a sweeping staircase, and glittering crystal chandeliers.
That opulent aesthetic carries into Kelly Killoren Bensimon’s two-bedroom apartment, though with a distinctive Parisian twist. The open living space is adorned with a massive mirror wall featuring subtle gray undertones. “It opens up the space, but it also makes it super cozy,” she explained.
Designed with the help of celebrity creative consultant Gregory Bissonnette, Kelly Killoren Bensimon’s interiors blend bold textures, bright colors, and personal touches. Her art collection includes works by Julian Schnabel and Ghada Amer, alongside one of her most cherished pieces a painting by her daughter, framed in Chrome Hearts.
Among the statement pieces in her living room is a massive horse statue from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, a gift from none other than Anna Wintour. “He’s a celebrity in this apartment,” she laughed, noting that the leather saddle draped atop was gifted by the late Carla Fendi.
Kelly Killoren Bensimon’s Parsons table, inherited from her parents’ home in Illinois, serves as a centerpiece for an ever-evolving collection of lamps, vases, and art books. “It’s one of those pieces that grounds me,” she said.
Her marble breakfast table is paired with 18th-century dining chairs from her ex-husband Gilles Bensimon’s family art collection, placed over a soft pink rug from fellow RHONY alum Jill Zarin’s homeware line.
A shelf stacked with Moët & Chandon bottles stands as a glittering testament to Kelly Killoren Bensimon’s career success. “Every single listing that I sell deserves a bottle of Moët,” she explained. “From $42 million to $5 million they’re all here. Maybe one day, I’ll pop them to celebrate!”
Her sun-drenched primary bedroom exudes laid-back glamour. A queen-size bed is topped with a black-and-white Chanel throw, and nearby sits a KAWS sculpture gifted by Karl Lagerfeld. The space also houses her enviable purse collection, featuring treasures like a Louis Vuitton handbag presented by the brand’s president during her tenure at Elle Accessories and a gold Tom Ford clutch she carried to the 2023 Oscars.
“This is an iconic room because it’s where Tarzan sleeps,” she joked, referring to her fluffy white dog. “It’s just a very cozy vibe … I love waking up here.”
A sleek white staircase leads to a lofted second bedroom, which doubles as a dressing area and shoe haven. “The closet space here is unbelievable. I actually have my own shoe closet,” she said, showing off her gold Tom Ford stilettos favorites she once wore to BravoCon.
Kelly Killoren Bensimon also repurposes fashion items as decor. She transformed her Hermès scarves into pillows and even framed several of them as wall art. In true Kelly style, she went a step further converting a jumbo Hermès Birkin into a holder for throw pillows. “It’s one of my favorite bags. I use it to store my throw pillows, and I’ll even take it with me to the Hamptons,” she shared.
For Kelly Killoren Bensimon, design is more than aesthetics it’s about creating an environment that feels both personal and alive.
“Creating a home is all about decorating and living with what you love,” she said. “That is the ultimate lifestyle.”
From its storied past to its art-filled present, Kelly Killoren Bensimon’s home inside The Police Building is more than just an apartment it’s a testament to her eclectic taste, vibrant history, and unwavering sense of style in the heart of New York City.
